God's Unique Voice
Expect to hear God and in a variety of ways! He is brilliant!
In my experience talking with believers, hearing God’s voice is limited to routine times of prayer, reading the Bible, or listening to a sermon.
I would say these are the primary ways God speaks, however, I'll be honest and say I have difficulty understanding why believers limit and put borders around God's ways of doing things.
I’ve had numerous conversations with Christians who never thought to look and listen to God through dreams in the night. If we can hear the roar of God’s voice in the thunder, we can also hear His voice in the stillness of night.
What I find startling is non-believers are looking for revelation of some kind through the supernatural. Curiously, I did a quick search on the internet and typed in, "seeking supernatural revelation." Within 69 seconds there were 4,510,000 match results. I didn't have to look very long to see how many aren't lined up with Biblical Truth.
I saw on Twitter a woman's post that our loved ones can guide us from the other side and from a spiritual dimension. Don't be deceived. Just because someone is talking about the supernatural doesn’t mean they are listening to the voice of the living God.
It is the Holy Spirit who guides and directs us, otherwise we will wander aimlessly by listening to the lies of the enemy and we will lose our souls.
Don't ignore scripture that warns against false teachings (mediums, psychics, astrologers, etc.). Anything contrary to the Bible is deception from the enemy to lead you away from God. 2 Corinthians 10:4 states that God's word knocks down the strongholds of human reasoning and destroys that which is false.
The Message version states: "We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God." When we listen to God we don't have to fear being deceived by the lies of the enemy.
Below are a few verses to ponder some of the unique ways God may speak to you. Take time to research God’s Word. When we know and believe in the Word we will be able to discern what is not from God.
Biblical Truth keeps us from opening our spirits to that which is counterfeit and from the enemy, who seeks to destroy us. John 10:10; 2 Timothy 3:16-17
