Fearless and Brave Dream

One of my friends was cooking a healthy meal for a group of people I was with. She was boiling chicken and making a side dish of bananas. In real life, this friend is very health conscious. When I looked into the pans I thought how bland the food would be. I told the group “we should eat it because it’s healthy.”

The group began talking about a serial killer on the loose. They were afraid because they didn’t know who he was.

The scene changed slightly. The community gathered together in a forest. It was dark and the setting was during medieval times. I was walking amongst the crowd with my brother, Donald. The crowd continued to be alarmed and talking about the murderer.

I glanced to my left and saw the evil man peeking out behind a tree. I pointed and said, “there he is.” At the sound of my voice, he came out from behind the tree and strolled to the front of the crowd. He was wearing dark clothes and had a dark green mask covering his head and face. He climbed up a tree and perched himself on top of a large branch. He crouched over and scanned the crowd. In the dream, I noted that his skin was completely covered.

The group split in two and my brother and I walked down the middle of the crowd. People were warning us to not go near him or we would die. I noticed bench seats in the front. My brother and I walked to the front with a sense we were heading into a court of law to defend ourselves. The closer we got to the front, people kept saying, “don’t look at him. If you look into his eyes, you’ll die.” When I got to the front I stood in front of the man and had a face-off with the killer. I was confident the only way to defeat the killer was to look into his eyes. I wasn’t intimated or fearful. I knew the court session would end in my favor. End of dream

Interpretation:

The dream begins with the need to take the advice of a godly friend. Friend and food represent the need to be physically and spiritually healthy.

“Listen to the advice of godly people and follow their instructions.” Proverbs 19:20 Matthew 4:4

“I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will live forever; and this bread, which I will offer so the world may live, is my flesh.” John 6:51

The people focused on the problem and fed on the negative words of others. Don’t listen to the fears of man. When we are prepared spiritually, we see our situations and the people in our lives through God’s perspective. Seeing as God sees doesn’t include fear and weakness.

I recognized that there was no flesh showing on the murderer. This depicts what the Bible states in Ephesians 6:12: “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.”

The medieval era represents the past. If there’s one thing the devil tries to do, and often, it is to get us to focus on our past sins. The devil wants to accuse us and bring up things that God has already forgiven and forgotten. This is a remarkable picture of a verse in Revelations referring to the enemy as “the accuser of the brethren.” Revelation 12:10

“For the accuser of our brothers and sisters has been thrown down to earth—the one who accuses them before our God day and night. And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony.” Revelation 12:10-11

The murderer didn’t have to talk for me to discern he was the enemy. I knew who he was and I had the confidence to “face my accuser.” I was already prepared and equipped by the Bread of Life; the Word of God.

I need a lot of stamina to face the enemy and deal with what is in front of me. I know I have the favor of the courts, which is the favor of God, not man. I can face my fears and trials head on.

What to do when the enemy accuses us? This is what the Lord says to Jerusalem: “I will be your lawyer to plead your case, and I will avenge you. (Jeremiah 51:36)

Be ready. Be fearless. Be brave!

Each scene is a beautiful visual how God’s Word teaches us to approach our fears. Summary:

1.   Take advice from godly people and don’t listen to those who fear what man can do to you. Psalm 118:6

2.   Have a hunger for God’s Word. Deuteronomy 6:7-8 Proverbs 17:22

3.   Don’t entertain negative thoughts. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 ““We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.”

4.   Don’t listen to man. “…just as Eve was deceived by the cunning ways of the serpent.” 2 Corinthians 11:3

5.   Pray for discernment to know when the enemy is near. Hosea 14:9

6.   I was with my brother. Support family and face situations together. (This can represent literal family and/or church family). God fights for our families. Nehemiah 4:14

7.   Face “it,” whatever “it” is in your life. We don’t have to cower and run away from our problems. “This is my command--be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9. Our problems go where we go and sometimes the only way of escaping them is to accept what is in front of us and move forward.

8.   Don’t look back. Genesis 19:26

9.   Be brave and courageous. Psalm 27:14

10.   The enemy accuses us, whereas God pardons us from all sin and death. “God gives me a fair hearing. Fair and honest people can reason with Him, so I would be acquitted by my judge.” Job 23:6-7

I pray this dream is an encouragement to you and that you can see how a dream can bring scripture to life, and how to put God's Word into practice.

Don't be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell.” Matthew 10:28
