Spiritual Adultery Dream Part 2

God’s words “I will put My fear in their hearts so that they will not depart from Me,” rendered me useless when he gently said, “you’re just like Saul.” Jeremiah 32:40

The thought of God forsaking me was the tough love I needed to push me into submission. (Read Spiritual Adultery & Disobedience Part One.)

Thankfully, God doesn’t leave us in our state of despair. It was God’s loving rebuke that seized my heart and put me on the path of correction and redemption, but not without the enemy trying to take full advantage of what I felt was my demise.

After a long day of sorrow and repentance, I was sitting on my couch when the Holy Spirit reminded me of a few dreams I had recorded on my phone. I listened to the first one.

I vaguely remembered it, but it didn’t take long before I began to recall details. I sank into my couch and once again sorrow filled my soul of how I had hurt my Lord. It had been a warning dream and  it stirred up all of the painful thoughts and emotions I had turned over to the Lord earlier in the day.

Immediately, the enemy pounced. He jumped right in to dominate my thoughts and steal “the joy of my salvation.” “If only you would have listened.”

Because my day had been filled seeking God in prayer and pouring into the Word, I didn’t remain in the grips of Satan’s fear. The “Truth set me free.” As soon as he threw his arrows of attacks at me, God’s Word was my weapon that cut through the lies of the enemy.

God used these warning dreams to draw me to him, not away. He revealed a picture that there is nothing I could do that is unforgivable and irredeemable. The first dream I titled YELLOW BALL DREAM:

I was part of a class and the instructor had given us strict instructions. We were given a yellow ball and told to walk alongside a highway. We were told, if the ball goes into the road, nobody is to go in and get it. “Let it go. Don’t get it,” the instructor said

A semi-truck was coming down the highway at full-speed and the ball rolled into the road. I knew I had time to get. I jumped into the road, kicked it out of the road, and jumped out of the way of the truck. The instructor, displeased, said, “why did you do that? I told you not to. I told you if the ball went into the road to let it go.” “I knew I had time,” I said. “I knew I had time.” He said, “But that wasn’t the instructions. Don’t do it again.”

He gave the class a purpose with the same instructions. The ball rolled onto the highway and again, I  kicked it back onto the side of the road before it got smashed on the highway.

The teacher said, “I already told you not to do that. This is the second time you disobeyed. I referred back to the yellow ball and said, “but what if it were a child?” And he said,

“what if it were Jesus? Do you think you should make the decision if he should die for you?”

End of dream

God was trying to correct me and keep me from disobeying him. In summary:

  • Instructor: Symbolic of God.

  • Color of the balls (yellow and purple): They symbolize what is heavenly, i.e., royalty, robe, the throne of God. They emphasize that this dream has a spiritual message with spiritual implications.

  • Two balls: They represent two areas in my life that I needed to let go of. i.e., dessert and the Netflix show Arrow.  I did not listen to God in the dream, or in real life.

  • Road: The side of the road was clearly the safer path. There’s a danger to going my own way. Only God knows our future. He is always looking out for our well-being.

“What if it were Jesus? Do you think you should make the decision if he should die for you.”

These words gripped my heart the way “you’re like Saul,” did. God used this scene to reveal my sinful and selfish nature.

Christ died for me. Salvation is nothing I can do on my own. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9

God did not want anyone to "step in" and save Christ from death. God could have rescued Christ on the Cross, but it was the will of the Father that Christ die for me, for you. Mark 15:34 Matthew 26:53

In the dream, I had what I thought was a great excuse for my disobedience, but there are no good excuses for disobeying God.

I listened to the second dream.

BLOOD DREAM:

“ I see blood dripping. That’s all I see. Yes, blood dripping from the ceiling.” Immediately, I knew what it meant and once again, I had not heeded God’s warning.

The enemy pounced, again. “You should have paid attention to these dreams before you sinned.” “You write about dreams, you have a blog about dreams, you teach what to do with dreams when you wake up.” This never would have happened IF IF IF.

It’s not like Satan wants me to be obedient to God, but he was relishing in my failure and wasted no time taunting me with guilt, condemnation, and shame.

BUT God! God in his goodness didn’t leave me in my sorrow. In a marvelous way, God ushered in his grace.

As I looked at the dates on my phone, I saw it. The details of God’s involvement in our lives cannot be ignored.

God had given me the Yellow Ball Dream the same morning I received Number 432. Go back to Part One if you don’t remember.

When I awoke the morning I had the Yellow Ball Dream and Number 432, I should have prayed “Lord, search my heart and show me what those balls represent?” I did not. He gave me a second opportunity on the morning of the Spiritual Adultery Dream. The dream pierced my heart but by evening, I rationalized what I considered my right standing with God on the outside, but disobedience was still in my heart.

God puts order to our night the way he does to our day.

The order of discovering and listening to the dreams on this day is how the Lord brought healing to my soul. The order is the process of the gospel message; each representing what Christ did to forgive us of our sins.”

  1. Spiritual Adultery Dream: I sinned. Sin came into the world. Without sin, there is no need for redemption.

    • “When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned.” Romans 5:12

    • Slave to sin. I was a slave to those two areas in my life. From the moment I woke up from this dream, the loving fear of God gripped me and I was immediately set free from the temptation to consume sugar and watch that show. “We know that the person we used to be was crucified with him to put an end to sin in our bodies. Because of this, we are no longer slaves to sin. The person who has died has been freed from sin.” Romans 6:7-6

  2. Yellow Ball Dream: The balls represented my sin. This dream exhibits what Christ did for me. Christ willingly died for me by “going into the road,” and choosing to remain there. John 3:16 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” Romans 5:8:11

  3. Blood Dream: Christ’s blood covers all sins (i.e., dripping from the ceiling. I Peter 1:18-19

God continued to encourage me.

In the Old Law, I was like Saul. God probably would have forsaken me, but in the New Law, he showed me I behaved like Peter. The Lord was rebuking me with the same story he had loved on me a few weeks back (Saul). Similar to what he had done with Peter.

When Jesus told Peter he would build his church, Jesus also told him “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat. But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. So when you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen your brothers.” But Jesus said, “Peter, let me tell you something. Before the rooster crows tomorrow morning, you will deny three times that you even know me.” Luke 16

Before Peter sinned, Jesus pleaded in prayer for him. Jesus knew he would repent, and despite his sin and failure, Jesus would still use him. Grace.

Like Peter, God loved on me and warned me before I sinned. (February 23 - Number 432 and Yellow Ball Dream)

Like Peter, Christ prayed for me.

Like Peter, God showed me I would repent and be forgiven (Blood Dream).

Like Peter, despite my failures, Christ said he would still use me.

 What grace!

What’s your dessert? What’s your Netflix show?

God is asking for your obedience. “Obedience is better than sacrifice.”

If we’re rationalizing things, it’s time to go to God and ask for forgiveness and stop.

Rationalization is being a “slave to our sin.”

Who doesn’t want to grow in wisdom?

How to walk in freedom:

  • Obey: “If you love me, keep my commands.” John 14:15

  • Repent: “Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away.” Acts 3:19

  • Forgiven: “So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.” Romans 8:1

Walk in God’s love. Walking in the reverent fear of God ushers in more of his love. “Such love has no fear because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.” I John 4:18
