2019 GPS Dream Part One
“The Lord your God is going ahead of you. He will fight for you, just as you saw him do in Egypt. And you saw how the Lord your God cared for you all along the way as you traveled through the wilderness, just as a father cares for his child. Now he has brought you to this place...who goes before you looking for the best places to camp, guiding you with a pillar of fire by night and a pillar of cloud by day…” Deuteronomy 1:30-33
Scene One:
I dreamt I was driving a car and there was a male passenger in the passenger seat. The GPS was attached to the window seal. It fell off and when I looked down, the road suddenly came to a dead-end. I slammed on my breaks and we found ourselves boxed in at the end of an embankment. Construction was taking place for a new neighborhood on the other side. I noted how massive and expensive the homes were.
We landed halfway up the embankment, which was somewhat muddy. I was driving an automatic and I told the passenger I would need to step on the peddles quickly so that when I went in reverse I wouldn’t get stuck in the dirt. When I say boxed in, it was because plywood was built up like a wall on both sides of our vehicle. There was no way to maneuver other than straight back.
As I looked in my mirrors, I asked him tohe watch the sides to guide me backward. When he picked up the GPS I told him how to hook it to the window.
I stepped on the gas to get out of the mud and once I was off the incline, I eased down the embankment and back onto the road.
Scene Two:
I sensed I was in Italy, but everything around me was America. I was with my brother-in-law Eric and we were heading to church. I told him I needed to eat. We were meeting up with his family later in the day. I saw a pizza place and said let’s stop there. He said we’re having pizza tonight and I told him I didn’t mind if I had pizza twice. He said he wouldn’t be eating. We got in line and the workers were tossing pizza dough. The dough was family-size and I told Eric that was too large and to make sure I didn’t forget to ask for personal size to go.
Scene Three:
We drove to church and as we walked in I was mesmerized by how beautiful the architecture was. It was an older building and the sanctuary walls and ceiling were solid wood. It had a large, carved, round dome.
It was Sunday and there was a constant flood of people coming in.
As I looked towards the stage, the podium sat very low and I could only see the top of the pastor’s head. I looked for the monitors overhead and there was one on each side of the pastor. They were long and narrow, rectangular in shape. It was hard to read the words or see the faces on the screen because the quality of the screen was so poor. I wanted to buy new ones, but I didn’t know how to go about doing so without being offensive. I had never taken my seat while I was processing all of this. In my heart, I knew I was just a visitor to the church and I wasn’t there to become a member or one that was looking for a church. I was there to serve and/or provide an offering.
Scene Four:
I had a notification on Facebook Messenger from a friend I hadn’t heard from since 2011. We became friends the last four or five years before Rick and I moved to Germany. I wanted to respond thoughtfully and decided to wait, but accidentally replied “ok.” I needed to reply immediately and wrote, “Great to hear from you.”
She had taken a picture of herself and was showing me her new haircut. In the dream and in the photo she was wearing a pink, pastel sweater. I didn’t realize it until the end of the dream that she looked like an iPhone, self-emoji. Perfect, radiant, and bright. I don’t think I recognized this was a different kind of photo because she has always been beautiful and radiant. End of dream. October 19, 2019
This was my second GPS Dream. It was eight years to the month from the first GPS Dream when I had this dream. (October 2011) In the Bible, after six days of creation, the seventh day was a day of rest. The eighth day represents a new beginning.
I have had previous dreams with a similar message to do “God’s will, not mine” “Send Me” Dream They also emphasize God is in control and highlight unexpected journeys with God.
Nineteen meant something, but I did not have a clear understanding as to what. I wanted to dissect 9, 10, 10 + 9 = 19, but I always came back to 19. If there was more I knew in time the Holy Spirit would reveal it. God revealed it six months later. See the Interpretation in Part Two.
We are indeed on a new journey and this dream lays out beautifully the “how” to remain on God’s path and enjoy the unexpected journey.
Today’s Reflection:
If you journal, take time to connect past entries to current events. For example, recognize how God miraculously went before you. If you don’t see it, trust that he will and is. Live in expectation from here on out. “Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord WILL personally go ahead of you. He WILLl be with you; he WILL neither fail you nor abandon you.“ Deuteronomy 31:8 See Worshiping to Hear God’s Voice
How does answered prayer encourage you today? “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,” Ephesians 1:18
What fears and uncertainties are you experiencing today? Search scripture. The Word of God WILL usher in comfort, they are God’s promises to guide and guard you, and they WILL build your faith to trust that he has a beautiful future prepared for you. “Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.” Psalm 119:105 Philippians 4:7
“When you came down long ago, you did awesome deeds beyond our highest expectations. And oh, how the mountains quaked!” Isaiah 64:3
“All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation…”
2019 GPS Dream Interpretation - Part Two
When God gives us prophetic dreams, we have no idea what the end result will look like. Jim Goll states that “We must patiently and carefully carry the dream that God has conceived in us until He brings it to birth. When the fullness of time comes, we also receive a full understanding of the dream's meaning.” This was one of those dreams where God birthed new life in me.
