What Must I Do To Be Saved?

A reader contacted me with a desperate admission of hopelessness. What is God saying in these hard times? Am I the problem? What is the root cause of my struggles? What does God want me to do? Please help me.

There are many answers to life’s circumstances that we want answers to. Many times we need to seek advice and help from professionals. I’m not a pastor or a counselor, but I know from experience that I can’t begin to change or successfully handle life’s circumstances unless Jesus is Lord of my life.

The best advice I was able to provide this individual was by asking if he knew Jesus as his Savior. When we know Jesus personally, we begin learning the endless promises in scripture. One, the gift of eternal life with him.

By believing in God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, we have the privilege to “cast all of our burdens on him,” and in turn, we will experience his sustaining grace and peace in our lives. Psalm 55:22

You can know Jesus today, but first, you must recognize that you are a sinner and need a savior. I Corinthians 6:17 Job 33:4

My new friend on the blog made the most important decision of his life and invited Jesus into his heart. The angels in heaven gave a huge round of applause on that day and I rejoiced with them. Do you want to know Jesus as Lord of your life?

“What must I do to be saved?”

BELIEVE in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved… Acts 16:30-31

BEING GOOD ISN’T GOOD ENOUGH:  Your works won’t save you. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— Not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9

ADMIT: We are all sinners. “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.” I John 1:8

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” Romans 3:23

“Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners…” I Timothy 1:15

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

GOD DEMONSTRATED HIS LOVE: “But Christ proved God’s passionate love for us by dying in our place while we were still lost and ungodly!” Romans 5:8 TPT

COMMIT AND CONFESS: “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17

God has the answers to all of your questions. If you haven't accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior, you can do it right now by saying this prayer:

“Dear God,

I know I’m a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness.

I believe Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe that He died

for my sin and that you raised Him to life.

I want you to be my Savior and follow you as Lord,

from this day forward. Guide my life and help me to do your will.

I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.”

The Bible says “In the same way, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels when even one sinner repents.” Luke 15:11

Jesus is waiting and when you do, there will be a huge round of applause in the heavens just for you.

“Come now and let’s deliberate over the next steps to take together.

Yahweh promises you over and over:

“Though your sins stain you like scarlet,

I will whiten them like bright, new-fallen snow!

Even though they are deep red like crimson,

they will be made white like wool!” Isaiah 1:18 TPT

When you make the most important decision of your life, don’t be disillusioned that life will be perfect. The situations in your life will more than likely not change, but God will change you. As you study God’s word, spend time in prayer, and in time, the Lord will change how you think and see your circumstances.

The more you walk in relationship with Jesus (talking to him and reading your Bible) you will learn how to let him guide your footsteps. You will gain wisdom from the Lord and he will guide you on how to make decisions and handle life’s challenges.

Trust in God, “walk by faith, not by sight,” and be confident in your God that he is working in every aspect of your life. Hebrews 11:1

The more you walk in relationship with Christ Jesus, you will begin to think and see the world as God does. God will infuse you with his Spirit and Spirit to spirit, the Lord will teach you his ways and will. “Who can know the Lord’s thoughts?  Who knows enough to teach him?” But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.“ I Corinthians 2:16 “And you should imitate me, just as I imitate Christ.” I Corinthians 11:1

RESULT OF NO CONFESSION: For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23
