Did God Really Say?

Did God Really Say?

1“The serpent was the shrewdest of all the wild animals the Lord God had made. One day he asked the woman, “Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?” “Of course we may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,” the woman replied. “It’s only the fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden that we are not allowed to eat. God said, ‘You must not eat it or even touch it; if you do, you will die.’” “You won’t die!” the serpent replied to the woman. “God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil.” The woman was convinced. Genesis 3:1-24

Satan gets you to question God, question yourself, and question all that is Truth.

The first sin began when he got Eve to question a simple instruction from God. Satan said to Eve, “Did God really say…” The moment the devil put the question in Eve’s mind, she began doubting what God told her and Adam about the trees in the garden. Satan also said, “God knows that your eyes will be opened…” He told her something he thought she wanted to hear. She believed the lies instead of standing on God’s Words.

Verse six states, “The woman was convinced.”

How often do you convince yourself of something because you listened to others, didn’t pray it through, or didn’t go to God’s Word to see what the Bible says about the subject,? Have you been guilty of listening to something twisted ever so slightly that ultimately you wish you had not?

Satan hasn’t changed my friends. He lies! John 8:44

Listen to some of his lies that we are hearing repeatedly today and then look at scripture that clearly states otherwise:

  • Marriage isn’t just for men and women. Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:5-6

    • “And he said, “‘This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.’[aSince they are no longer two but one, let no one split apart what God has joined together.”

  • Men can get pregnant. Genesis 3:16; Jeremiah 30:6; Hebrews 11:11

    • “Then he said to the woman, “I will sharpen the pain of your pregnancy, and in pain, you will give birth. And you will desire to control your husband, but he will rule over you.” Genesis 3:16

  • Women can be men. Deuteronomy 22:5 I Corinthians 11:11-12

    • A woman must not put on men’s clothing, and a man must not wear women’s clothing. Anyone who does this is detestable in the sight of the Lord your God.” Deuteronomy 22:5

  • Men can be women. Deuteronomy 22:5; I Corinthians 11:11-12

  • I don’t know who I am. Genesis 1:27; Ephesians 2:10; I Peter 2:9

  • There are more than two genders. Genesis 1:27; Matthew 19:4

God made man in his own image. Genesis 2:22-24

I can’t think of a greater attack on God’s children than for us to deny who we were created to be; to deny our identity. When Satan can get us to question our identity, we begin to question our Creator too, just like Eve did. Satan is very strategic and tactical when it comes to warfare and we are in spiritual warfare.

The world is teaching children to focus on themselves and to lean into their feelings, and redefine who they want to be, especially when they don’t know who that is. The Bible, however, says to deny yourself. Luke 9:23.

When Eve fell for Satan’s lies, death followed. The result will be the same today friends. Don’t listen to Satan’s lies. Satan has people focusing entirely on themselves, trying to find ways to redefine who they are, how they look, and to feel their way into believing they are somebody they are not, nor meant to be. They are questioning the very Words of God that go back to the garden of Eden when Eve heard, “ “Did God really say…?”

God made man and woman in the garden. He made two human beings, two people. A man and a woman. There weren’t two men, two women, no unicorns. They were given names and individual identities: Adam and Eve. They weren’t using pronouns. Pronouns are less personal and they aren’t specific. Names are important to God. Read God Knows Your Name

Giving up your name gives up the very essence of who you are. It’s the first step in denying who you are. Once you omit your name, it’s easier to begin peeling away other layers of who you truly are and putting on layers that begin to mask who you were born to be, Our society, government, schools, and even churches have people questioning the very literal Word of God. They have God’s most special creation questioning their very image and identity. Are you one of them?

We are made beautifully and wonderfully in the image of God! Psalm 139

When you become a Christian and live for Christ, deny yourself. Galatians 2:20 states, “My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

You will live a much healthier and fuller life when you live for Christ and others, and deny yourself. Don’t listen to the lies of Satan. Don’t complicate what is so often quite simple and understood in the Word. Read and believe in God’s Word and don’t listen to the lies of Satan, “Did God really say…”

God loves you and has a beautiful life planned for you. Trust in him!

“So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep. While the man slept, the Lord God took out one of the man’s ribs[d] and closed up the opening. 22 Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib, and he brought her to the man.

“At last!” the man exclaimed.“ This one is bone from my bone, and flesh from my flesh! She will be called ‘woman,’ because she was taken from ‘man.’” This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one. Now the man and his wife were both naked, but they felt no shame.” Genesis 2:22-24
